The Smile Inside Exhibition of stories and artwork is now on tour. In each area the exhibition tours we are working with the local community to gather their stories that make them smile to inspire poetry, creative writing and dance to create a community dance film.
Smile Inside at Witney Hospital
We have collaborated with John Darvell of NOCTURN to work with the staff and patients of Witney Community Hospital to find out what makes them smile. We have worked with patients to become the storytellers and choreographers to inspire dances that bring their stories to life as well as to inspire artists and the local community to create works for the hospital wards.
GET INVOLVED - We have collected stories from patients about what makes them smile and would like to invite you read them and choose one that inspires you to create a response, for more information please see our story pack here:
Please select a storytellers name from the list below to read their story and see the art work it has inspired. Please check back as we will keep adding creative responses as we receive them, you will also be able to view them as part of an exhibition at Witney Community Hospital

Smile Inside at Story Town Corsham
Working with film maker Peter Anderson, poet Dawn Gorman, musician Will Lawton, dance artist Marie Lou Flexen and artist Sam Perry we created our smiling yarn bomb tree, collected 36 stories and 300 leaves that make us smile, held workshops on the High Street and interpreted the things that make Corsham smile through improvised dance.
This resulted in 3 poems created by Dawn Gorman incorporating everyone's stories and incorporated into 3 films created by an intergenerational community company over a day between lockdowns:
Films created for each poem by Peter Anderson with Music created by Will Lawton and the Company:
In the end we chose 3 winners of our Smiling Leaf competition who all won Book Tokens
